Home » Rules » Who is responsible for repairing and maintaining the fence and the gate fence on my property?

Occasionally, fences and the gates that are part of the fence (“gate fence”) require repairs.   For example, over time, the gate may fail to automatically close after it is opened.  This failure may occur due to normal wear and tear or due to damage caused by vendors, guests or others.

Who is responsible for maintaining and repairing fences and gate fences?

Article IX, Section 2,B of our CC&Rs provides the following: “The Owner of each Lot shall maintain, repair and replace as needed any fencing on his/her Lot….”  As such, the repairs for a fence and a gate fence are the responsibility of each homeowner.

It is particularly important to ensure your gate fence is closing automatically after vendors service your backyard landscaping and pool cleaning or after guests enter or leave the backyard through the gate fence.  Although the Reunion West POA instructs our vendors to close gates when they leave your property, it is still your responsibility as homeowner to ensure your gate fence mechanism is working and the gates automatically close after each use.

If you believe a vendor is responsible for damage to your fence or a gate fence, please contact admin@reunionwestpoa.com and provide evidence of which vendor damaged your fence and when it occurred.  Exterior cameras are an excellent source of evidence.  The Reunion West POA can contact the vendor on your behalf, but any resolution of financial responsibility is between you and the vendor.

You can find our CC&R in FrontSteps under “Documents & FAQS”, then “Documents”, then “RW-All Governing Docs”.
